Primrose Maora

Welcome graphic

Primrose is a six year old girl. She did the first term at school in 2006, but her mother could not afford the school fees, so she was not able to do the second and third terms. If Primrose does not start school in 2007 she will probably never get a education. Sponsors can be informed of Primrose Progress By e-mail, or on this web-site.

About Primrose

Rosie Maora used to work as a housegirl for a disabled gentleman, at Wolston,  31 Central Avenue, Harare, Zimbabwe. The Gentleman, Butt, moved into a nearby house, but let Rosie live in his old room, and paid her rent.
Rosie brought her two daughters to live with her in the room.
Rosie developed a heart condition which made her ill and adventually she died.
Her two daughters became homelessand lived on the streets. The elder daughter, Lucia, became ill and died on the streets.
The younger daughter became a prostitute and adventually became a fifteen year old mother. Anna called her daughter Primrose in memory of her mother Rosie.
Anna could not afford to look after her daughter, Primrose, properly, and she left Primrose with various friends.
When Primrose was old enough to start school, Anna managed to find enough money for a low-cost school in  the countryside. Primrose did her first school term there, but her mother could not afford the school fees after that.
Primrose is now getting a bit old to start school, so if she does not start in 2007 she may never get an education.

Primrose is a normal healthy girl, but she is very sad when her mother goes away.

How to Help

The most important thing is to get school fees paid for Primrose.
School fees are expensive for parents in Zimbabwe, but they are not high for people in developed countries.
Unfortunately, Anna cannot be trusted to use money given to her for the intended purpose.
Primrose does have friends who can recieve money and would behave honestly with money recieved. They would like something for their effort, naturally. They can be contacted through Harare Street Kids Shelter at e-mail : rachel.makiwa@yahoo.com

Primrose can count to twenty and is learning her ABC

Primrose does not have school shoes.
She likes to sing and to do drawings.
